Make sure you turn the volume up--Ashlyn is reading a story out loud.

Halloween 2009

I am not a big fan of Halloween, but I love my granddaughter. She was Princess Aurora--but only prettier!! She went around the neighborhood with some of her friends from church. What joy on her face when she received candy in her pail!!

Ashlyn's Cast

Well, her cast is off now, but I wanted to show you these pictures. She was such a trooper with her cast. As you can see, it didn't slow her down one bit!!

Ashyln's Surgery

Ashlyn was born with webbed fingers--I am sure it would be a great thing for a swimming career, but not too good for other dexterity needs!! She had surgery this week on her right hand. She came through with flying colors!! No poor affects from the anesthesia and the pain doesn't seem unbearable. Praise God for His healing touch!! Here is Ashlyn waiting for the surgery and Erika in a sterile suit to accompany her to the surgery room.

Look, ma, no hands!!

Fun at Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium

When Ashlyn comes to visit, we always go to the Zoo. She loves the animals!! We got to see the Sumatra Indian Tiger this time. Even though the beluga has gone to Sea World, we had fun seeing the three walruses. The zoo is the perfect size for her--not too much, but many wonderful sites to see!! The new attraction this time was the camel rides--what fun!!

Sports Camp

Sports Camp

Ashlyn went to sports camp for a week. They played baseball, tennis, bowling, and had a lot of fun. Thank you Nana for the pictures!!

A week in the life of Ashlyn

I got to spend a week of vacation playing with Ashlyn all week. It was the best!! We met daddy for lunch, played all kinds of games, read lots of books, went to the library, played at the YMCA, went to the park, had a lunch date, and had the best time!!

She is very bright--she can tell me to turn right or left as we travel in town. I haven't seen her miss knowing which is which yet. She is very imaginative and has a great memory. I can read a book once, and she knows the story almost by heart the next day. She is a delight.

Enjoy these pictures taken in her front yard and the next five new posts!!

Little Mermaid

Ashlyn continues to love books. She goes to the library at least once a week. One of her favorites is the Little Mermaid. Here she is using her hula hoop to turn into the Little Mermaid.

Basketball at the YMCA

Watch out Swin Cash!!

Scooter and Jump Rope

Here she is trying out the scooters (a girl after my own heart!!) and jump roping. Daddy showed her how to make the scooters go and I showed her how to jump rope. She had to try them, too!!

More fun at the Y

Ashlyn likes the pool, but seems to like the gym better. She runs, kicks, throws, and here she is bowling!!

Parents will do anything for their kids!!

Erika is playing a game with Ashlyn.

Look how strong I am!!

Ashlyn loves going to the park to swing, slide, and climb. She can tell which park she wants to go to by the equipment in the park. She is cautious around other children at first, but then gets more adventerous. She began going down the big slide and swinging with her mom and dad, but now she goes by herself. This is a new trick she figured out last weekend.

March 09

March 09

Ashlyn knows so many words, it constantly amazes me. She knows the correct verb tense, too. Verbal skills are definitely a sign of advanced intelligence!!!! She continues to love books and her favorite thing is to go to the library.

February Update

Ashlyn has recently gotten over her first real illness. She had an ear infection and was not the same little girl. She slept most of the day and cuddled the rest. But she is back on her feet and lively as ever. Praise God!!

Her parents are trying to wean her off of her Nuk. Looks like it will be a long process--but you never know!!

She continues to make strides in potty training and is very proud when she accomplishes the task!!

I will see her this weekend to give her parents some alone time for Valentine's Day. I can't wait!!

2nd Birthday--December 31, 2008

Happy Birthday, Ashlyn!! She was 34" tall, so if you believe the experts, she will be about 5'8". Sorry, Erika!!

Christmas 08

Christmas was so much fun this year. Ashlyn understood about Santa and presents. She liked to see Santa, but screamed when placed on his lap!! With so many family in town, she received so many gifts, they all seemed to run together. But Shyam and Erika are doing a good job of blending them in with her former toys and books. She continues to love books. She threw down gifts of clothes like they had the plague and asked where the next gift was!! (Just like her father!) She recieved a big wheel, blocks, clothes, more things for her kitchen, books, Dora the Explorer dominos, and a mini basketball. She is definitely one blessed little girl!! We love her beyond measure.
